Beyond Access: Strengthening Accountability and Community Voices in Menstrual Health

Ahead of Menstrual Hygiene Day, commemorated annually on 28th May, Irise Institute East Africa (IIEA) will host a regional Pre–MH Day webinar themed “Beyond Access: Strengthening Accountability, Closing Data Gaps, and Elevating Community Voices in Menstrual Health for a Period-Friendly World.”

The webinar will convene policymakers, civil society organizations, donors, grassroots advocates, researchers, and development partners to discuss accountability, data gaps, and community-led approaches in menstrual health and hygiene (MHH).

Speakers and panelists will include representatives from the Parliament of Uganda, Ministry of Education and Sports Uganda, Ministry of Health Uganda, WASH United, Waterloo Foundation, The COVA Project, TPEN grassroots partners, and Menstrual Justice Academy alumni from across the region.

The webinar will provide a platform to amplify lived experiences, share lessons from grassroots implementation, and strengthen collaboration toward evidence-based and sustainable menstrual health programming. The conversation also seeks to advance a more period-friendly world where menstruation does not limit women and girls from reaching their full potential.
